INFINITE ARMS by BAND OF HORSES (2010, Brown Records)

Short review today. Third album from Seattle’s Band of Horses released on their own Brown Records label. Main songwriter and singer Ben Bridewell has said he feels this INFINTE ARS is the “first” proper Band of Horses album because over through the previous six years and two albums the band had been in a constant state of flux with members coming and going: "It's the first time the line-up hasn't been this revolving door. With this record it's a real band that I'm part of. No one's going anywhere, everyone's contributing to the songwriting process..."

Band of Horses are the latest in a long line of Americana rock acts that mix rootsy southern rock and country with vocal harmonies and chiming guitars. There’s echoes in their of The Band, The Eagles, Neil Young, right up to Mercury Rev or Fleet Foxes.

It’s a mellow album with some lovely Beach Boys-esque vocals. Links to the standout tracks are below.

It’s the perfect chill out album for a night out under the stars with a BBQ, bonfire and a bunch of mates. Exactly what I’ve been doing tonight.
